Mark Hoppus states that the new album contains "super-fast late-Nineties-punk-rock-sounding songs"

According to a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Mark Hoopus states that the new blink-182, album "goes in a lot of different directions" but "we have super-fast late-Nineties-punk-rock-sounding songs".

"It goes in a lot of different directions," says Hoppus. "We have some songs that sound like Blink-182 from 1999. ... We have some songs that are like nothing we have ever done before. We have a ballad called 'Home Is Such a Lonely Place' that has clean arpeggiated finger-picking guitars with strings underneath it. We have super-fast late-Nineties-punk-rock-sounding songs. ... We tried to capture the energy and not worry so much about all the knobs."

Tom Delonge states that he’s still in blink-182

According to a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Tom Delonge states that he's still in blink-182, "I am currently in the band".

"I love those guys," he continues, "The only thing I think about is, I want them to be happy. [But] I don't want the legacy of the band to get fucked with. I do care about that. I don't want an incredible legacy to be ruined." Still, he says, he's not closing the door on playing with them again. "I'm not opposed to it. I still would be interested, if people would just pick up the phone and call." (Confusingly, DeLonge gets in touch with Rolling Stone a few weeks later saying, "I am currently in the band." He maintains that he has never officially quit or been fired.)

Yotam (Useless ID) release acoustic song about Tony Sly

Israeli punk rock band Useless ID singer and bassist Yotam Ben Horin have released a new song and video for a song dedicated to Tony Sly. This song is off Yotam's "California Sounds" out now on Hardline Entertainment.

This is what he says about the song:
My friend Kevin who is doing a book in tribute for Tony Sly mentioned that a friend of his Steven Guerrero would be interested in possibly doing a video for my song "Tony Sly" off of California Sounds (Hardline Entertainment) so I put him in touch with label owner Ken Seaton and they both set up a 7 am shooting at 3rd Street Tattoo Shop in Hermosa Beach which is partly owned by Fletcher of Pennywise. Luckily I was just done with a 2 month tour and in the area. I didn't sleep much the night before. We ended up shooting a few takes and that was it. The setting, the hour and Steve's camera action made everything seem right.
I learned alot from Tony Sly over the years when my band Useless ID toured with No Use For A Name and when I worked with Tony on songs so this song is my thank you to Tony who shaped me musically from the first time I heard No Use so many years ago.

Fat Mike talks about the new NOFX album and their new book

Fat Mike, bassist and singer of the US punk rock classics NOFX have revealed on a recent interview with Media Mikes some details of their new album.

Q: Did you notice any similarities between writing a book and writing an album?

FM: "Our new album is I think our most personable album yet. For me it was like peeling off my skin. The new album which will come out in June is the first album that I wrote and recorded a lot of while I was using drugs. In the past I have always gone into the studio and recorded sober. What I found while working on this album was that I cared more. After I would do a line I became extremely focused on making whatever song I was working on the best it could be. A lot of this came from not only writing the book but also from when I was working on the “Home Street Home” musical. With a musical you can’t put in one word that’s not needed as you have 2 hours to tell an entire story. You can’t waste a word. You will definitely be able to tell the influences of the book and the musical on this new album."
